Shadow and Bone is an “American fantasy streaming television series developed by Eric Heisserer for Netflix. It is based on two series of books in the Grishaverse, created by Israeli-American author Leigh Bardugo: the Shadow and Bone trilogy…and the Six of Crows duology.”
Shadow and Bone‘s plot synopsis: “SHADOW AND BONE finds us in a war-torn world where lowly soldier and orphan Alina Starkov has just unleashed an extraordinary power that could be the key to setting her country free. With the monstrous threat of the Shadow Fold looming, Alina is torn from everything she knows to train as part of an elite army of magical soldiers known as Grisha. But as she struggles to hone her power, she finds that allies and enemies can be one and the same and that nothing in this lavish world is what it seems. There are dangerous forces at play, including a crew of charismatic criminals, and it will take more than magic to survive.”
The series stars an ensemble cast including: Freddy Carter, Jessie Mei Li, Archie Renaux, Amita Suman, Kit Young, Ben Barnes, Simon Sears, Julian Kostov, Danielle Galligan, Daisy Head, Sujaya Dasgupta, Angus Castle-Doughty, and Balázs Megyeri.
Lee Toland Krieger, Dan Liu, Mairzee Almas, Jeremy Webb, and Eric Heisserer direct the TV series episodes. Joseph Trapanese created the music for the film. Owen McPolin, David Lanzenberg, and Aaron Morton crafted the cinematography for the TV series.
